Privacy policy

This policy explains how Hāpai Te Hauora ("we", "us") handles information when you use this website, gamblingharm.nz. Hāpai Te Hauora is Aotearoa's largest Māori public health organisation and runs this site for Gambling Harm Awareness Week. We handle information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information you give us

This site has no forms and no accounts, and we do not ask you to enter any personal information. If you contact a support service listed on this site, you deal with that service directly — nothing you tell them passes through this website.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, we use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, the type of device and browser, an approximate location, and how visitors arrive. This information is collected using cookies, is aggregated, and does not usually identify you. See Google's privacy policy.

This site also uses the Meta Pixel, which shares your visits to pages on this site with Meta (Facebook and Instagram) so we can measure the campaign's reach and show it to more people. If you are logged in to a Meta service, Meta may connect those visits to your account. See Meta's privacy policy.

Videos

The Hooked videos are hosted by Vimeo. The players on this site load nothing from Vimeo until you choose to press play. After that, Vimeo may set its own cookies and collect viewing information under Vimeo's privacy policy.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and manage how Meta uses your information in Meta's ad preferences. Content blockers also stop these tools — the site works fully with them enabled.

Where information is processed

Google and Meta may store and process the information described above on servers outside New Zealand, under their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us whether we hold personal information about you, ask to see it, and ask us to correct or delete it. Contact us at hauora@hapai.co.nz. In practice we hold very little — the tools above collect aggregated usage information, and this site collects nothing you type in.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached your privacy, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
